Aligarh, UP: Friends of Tibet (Aligarh Muslim University) carried out a Tibet awareness campaign in the campus and initiated a national SMS-Campaign on November 20, 2006 on the occasion of Chinese President Hu Jintao's state visit to India.

Chinese President's declared objective of visiting India is to strengthen trade relations with our country, but instead of indulging into trade negotiations Chinese are trying to trade Indian Territory. Instead of withdrawing from Aksai Chin region and Tibet, Chinese assertion of Indian Territory confirms the imperialist nature of Chinese communist state.

The compromising attitude with which The Government of India is receiving Chinese President and the way Indian Police is harassing Tibetan Refugees is shameful. The confinement of Tenzin Tsundue, General Secretary of Friends of Tibet, within the territory of Dharamshala town in Himachal Pradesh, so as to prevent him to make peaceful protest against Chinese atrocities on Tibetans living inside Tibet, illustrates and highlights the growing insensitivity of Government of India towards the plight of Tibetan Refugees.

To make people of India aware about all these developments and issues, Friends of Tibet (Aligarh Muslim University) is running a nation-wide SMS-Campaign, which says "China, Stop Trading Indian Territory, End Illegal Occupation of Tibet". Apart from the SMS-Campaign, the organisation conducted an awareness campaign in the University on November 20, 2006. A compilation of articles and a copy of Tenzin Tsundue's letter to the Prime Minister was circulated in various faculties and departmental libraries. Volunteers of Friends of Tibet (Aligarh Muslim University) circulated handouts, articles and posters in the university and highlighted the agony of the Tibetan people.
