Nepal Not To Allow Anti-China Activities
(PTI | Beijing | April 4, 2003)
A top Nepalese defence official
today assured Beijing that the Himalayan Kingdom will
not allow any 'anti-China activities' from its soil by
supporters of Tibet's exiled spiritual leader, the
Dalai Lama.
"The Nepalese Government would, as always, support
China's stance on Tibet and never allow anyone to
conduct activities aimed at jeopardising China's
national security within the territory of Nepal,"
visiting Nepalese Defence Secretary Madan Prasad
Aryal, said here during a meeting with Chinese Defence
Minister Cao Gangchuan.
Cao, also Vice-Chairman of China's Central Military
Commission, and State Councillor, said China and
Nepal's history of friendly exchanges between the two
peoples could be traced back to thousands of years.
Since the establishment of diplomatic relations more
than 40 years ago, the two countries had established
cooperation in the fields of politics, trade,
economics, culture and education, and in a range of
regional and international affairs, the newly-
appointed Chinese Defence Minister said. The two sides
also exchanged views on the Iraq issue, Xinhua new
agency reported.
